It was unfortunate that DDD Dispersal took place. I bought my first cow from Kent Dollar and I hoped he would be in the Fleckvieh business for many more years. But, we do have some cattle from his herd and that makes the future look brighter. We purchased DFM Neveda, DDD Encouragement and Cooper Farms Amatola. We hope to get some great genetics in time from these great cows, who have
We recently attended the Magnolia Classic in Starksville, MS. Little Creek Farm had a great offering of cattle and everyone was very friendly. The consigners had a great group, also. The only thing I didn't like was the weather we had to contend with on the way down. It was the first blizzard of the year here in IL, and we had to drive right through it. So, we arrived a little later than we intended, but that is ok. There seemed to be quite a few bidders online which was good. We took home lot #5 Little Creek Lyda
We recently got back from the N.A.I.L.E., in Lousiville Kentucky. It was great being able to see the Fullblood's there, I was really happy to see cattle from not only the U.S. but top breeder's and cattle from Canada. It is amazing how much the breeder's strive to move the breed forward! These cattle are popular all over the world, and now they are starting to get recognized in the U.S.
The show was really interesting to watch, there were some great looking cattle there. I am glad I had the opportunity to be there, and talk to some great people. It was a very mem We have some exciting news from the Magnolia sale this year! We purchased the rights to a Flush from Little Terri 048T ( Crimson Tide's Donor). We also purchased some semen from the highly sought after Smithbilt Molson, picture on the bottom of him. We currently have two heifers out of him and plan on using him in the future.
We have been back from the Quest (Fleckvieh) sale for less than a week. We brought home a very fancy heifer from Bright Star Fleckvieh's named Elsa. She had quite a ride back home since we wen't through the Ozark mountains on the way back. She is fitting in very well with the rest of the heifers. We had a great time catching up with people and looking at cattle. The Bar 5 fall Production sale is on this weekend in Ontario and they have some great cattle in their catalog. Hopefully we can make it to the sale in the fu
This summer has gone by really fast, but there are still a lot of things to look forward to. One of the highlights of my fall is the Quest. It is a great Fleckvieh sale held every year by Dollar Diamond D. It is located in Arkansas, a very nice area. I have been looking at the catalog and we are planning on purchasing a heifer from the sale.
In other news, we have made a new pasture for the heifers. They seem to be very happy, except the flies are still bad. We are talking about getting a couple goats, we have so much brush that they would work wonders on. We are going to have to fix up the barn first, but hopefully we will have them late fall or early spring.
